Update 1.195 - Optimizations and New Niches


This update makes changes to the way a number of basic systems work. Some things will not be obvious at all, but some critters may find themselves suddenly much more (or less) survivable.

  • Performance optimizations - YMMV but framerates should remain stable with more pops than before.
  • Weeds are now edible! 
    • Gulping jaws are required to draw in weeds. The weed body will slowly shrink when eaten in this way. Weeds are very low in nutrition but can support a specialized species or just be used to keep a starving herbivore going a little longer.
  • Weed growth has been reworked. The growth rate now affects the cap on total spawned weeds as well as the rate at which weeds get bigger.
  • The speed boost from high Efficiency stat has been reduced.
  • The effectiveness of Armor against biting damage has been reduced.
  • Maximum Bite damage now scales with critter size.
  • The Parenting/Reproduction stat and size now affect a critter's breeding cooldown.
  • The Parenting/Reproduction stat now affects maturation rate.
  • Reworked how nuts are consumed -- effects should be subtle
  • Fixed the text on the Temperature Tolerance setting slider to correctly reflect the right number (2x what was shown before.)
